Applied Design Program

The Applied Design program is a sustainable method to improve your design skills, expand your awareness of all-things-jewelry, and be part of a really cool, like-minded community. The program is designed for busy for jewelry makers, designers, and artists working in the vocabulary of jewelry who want to know more about design, and the cultural role of jewelry. The delivery of lessons and the pacing lets you access content on your schedule but includes community interaction and live meeting opportunities that connect you to a lineage of jewelry makers and wearers dating back to beginnings of humanity.

Applied Design

  • Design Lessons

    Each new series includes a presentation to explore another aspect of design, followed by a weekly newsletter that details aspects of the current topic. Throughout the session updates and news is posted on Discord.

  • Design Exercises

    The design exercises and challenges can be applied to your current creative practice. The sessions are designed to give you time to absorb the lesson, think about how it applies to your aesthetic, then execute designs incorporating the design information. Whether you create a new piece of jewelry, make a model, or just do sketches, you will succeed in moving the lesson beyond the theoretical into reality.

  • Design Awareness

    Under this heading, we discuss who makes jewelry, where to see it, how to best present your work, and why it all matters. Topics range from jewelry history to marketing and inspiration.

    We meet once a month on a Wednesday from 7- 9:30pm ET. (See calendar for dates.) Meetings are archived for viewing and reviewing. Meetings include presentations, news and updates, structured critiques, special guests.

  • Weekly Email Newsletter

    Keep motivated with weekly emails, each detailing a different aspect of the current topic.

  • Community

    Jewelry Club’s Discord server is the place to show your work, ask for help, get feedback, share resources, learn about opportunities, chat with colleagues.
